Mark/B-LOC: Aside from improper atlss installation, air the most common oversight we see is a failure to accurately quantify tools applied dynamic loads or, when this is not possible, atlss to base selections on an appropriate safety factor. Before selecting a device, consider all types of loading acting on system air components and either determine their peak values or apply a safety factor that is right for the job.Jeff/KTR: The majority of problems we''ve seen stem from improper selection. The dimensional tolerance of the hub and shaft must be correct to effectively maintain peak torque transmission of the clamping elements. It''s also important that the hub material be thick tools enough to prevent breakage when the elements are installed.Keith/U.S. Tsubaki: Hub dimensions that don''t match the manufacturer''s requirements can reduce holding power and lead to potential problems. Tightening the unit''s locking bolts by "feel" or with crude air tools may create an unpredictable torque capacity.

Andrew/Whittet-Higgins: One pitfall is not allowing the needed spacing in the assembly housing. If the components are not locked together properly, the machinery can fail prematurely. A second pitfall is assuming atlss that a particular torque measurement for one component air is correct for the entire assembly.Jim/Stafford: * Using a set-screw collar on a hardened shaft. The screw does not "set," and holding power is greatly diminished.* Using a set-screw collar on thin-wall tubing, which can permanently distort the tubing.* Specifying too thin a width on a clamp-type collar, leaving it too weak to resist distortion when the clamp-screw is tightened.* Specifying too tools thin a clamp-slot on threaded shaft collars where the collar must flex more in order to adequately clamp onto the threaded shaft.
